Welcome to the ADHD Parent Peer

Hello! My name is Nili Zaharony and I am the ADHD Parent Peer. I am mom to 3 children, two which hold neurodivergent diagnoses. Raising my children, while wonderful, presents many challenges. After many months of struggling with challenging behaviors, countless incident reports, and frequent calls from the preschool, a parent counselor at our local Head Start program asked about ADHD. My oldest was 3 and is now nearly 9. It was the first time I had considered this possibility for my child.

Since then, my oldest has been diagnosed with moderate hyperactive ADHD and Social Anxiety Disorder. My son, whose challenging behaviors got him kicked out of preschool, has been diagnosed with severe hyperactive ADHD. Navigating my children’s brains and behaviors at times is all consuming. All of my resources, both financial and emotional, went to finding and providing the right supports, therapies, and medical care for my children. It was an exhausting journey that left me emotionally depleted and struggling with depression.

I love my children but this journey is hard. I created the ADHD Parent Peer to support families like mine. I aim to create opportunities for parents to connect, commiserate, share their struggles and their wins. We parents are faced with challenges as unique as our children’s brains. It can be a lonely and overwhelming journey without the proper support and guidance.

If you are new to an ADHD diagnosis or a veteran experiencing new challenges with each new phase of life, I invite you to connect and find support with a community that gets it.
